The Lend A Hand Foundation (LAHF) holds its supply kits giving yearly and has just completed its 22nd Annual by providing over 9,100 supply kits to students at 23 schools in the Bay Area.  The program provides underserved students the tools they need to start the new school year so they can be ready to learn.

LAHF’s yearly goal is to make sure that at least 5,000 – 10,000 students are served. For 2022, in honor of its 25th Year Anniversary of Giving, the organization has a huge campaign and want to provide 25,000 or more students with their educational tools.  This campaign will run under the initiative of NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND.  The organization feels that we can do this together.

To date, LAHF has provided over 108,000 supply kits and looking forward to doing more.  In Oakland alone, there are over 35,000 students who qualify to be enrolled in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program? LAHF works closely with many corporations and businesses that provides support to students and families.

Once it is determined how many supporters will adopt a school(s) or support in other ways, LAHF looks at the schools in need, and works with its partners to establish who can be served based on the amount of funding. Schools are then notified, and the assembly date is set before the actual day of school.

Our school sponsors have included: UPS, Safeway, Kaiser, Oracle, Wells Fargo Bank, Fenton’s Creamery, One Toyota of Oakland, Square, Honorable Nate Miley, Honorable Wilma Chan, Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation, Oakland Athletics, business, and individuals. We sincerely thank Mike Hannigan and Sean Marx (former owners of Give Something Back) as well as their staff for always being available to us to making it all happen from supply to delivery. We are also thankful to Blaisdell Business Products who took over the business and has been a great support as well.

There are many barriers’ children face daily that keep them from being able to concentrate on learning or even getting to school. It can be lack of food, clothing, housing, toiletries, and other challenges they may face.

We are seeking as many hands as we can to continue our work and to provide in-kind support for as many resources as possible. We sincerely thank the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area for their support and our upcoming projects that will help many children, youth, and families. We thank our long-time big support from the Iron Souls Professional Motorcycle Group, Oakland Firefighters Random Acts of Kindness, and Phi Beta Sigma for stepping up to help us with many volunteer efforts and other support.

Please take look below to see how you can help. We sincerely thank you for your time and consideration.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  1. Adopt a School: you can choose to adopt a school by covering the entire cost to support purchasing the supply kits. Generally, a school with 400-700 students will cost $6,000. The school sponsor would be invited to attend the packing event (Saturday before school starts) and are invited to the Stay in School Kickoff and if there will be a distribution at the school, be part of photo ops.
  2. Partner for needed supplies: if you cannot adopt a whole school, consider a partial adoption or even smaller. You can hold a school supply drive at your company.
  3. Monetary Support: whatever amount of funds you can provide will help cover additional supplies such as items for food insecurities, hygiene kits, and other essentials. We would also like to keep ample supplies available in the Lend A Hand Store.

Adopt A School Sponsor:

$10,000 = 1 school (over 750+ students)
$6,000 = 1 school (400-700 students)
$5,000 = 1 school (under 400 students)

Individual Student Supporter – $20 for one student (supply kit and more)

25th Year Anniversary Initiative –
NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND Provide 25,000 students with Educational Tools
Need to Raise $400,000 to $500,000
WE CAN DO THIS…CAN YOU HELP?

  • We are asking 10 corporations to donate between $40,000 and $50,000 or 20 corporations donate between $20,000 and $25,000.
  • We also need businesses and individuals to help with providing 25, 250, or 2,500 laptops for students.
  • Providing the above amounts will allow us to purchase, hire a fulfillment company, and hire transport companies to deliver to approximately 40-60 schools.
  • The $40K-$50K sponsors will be provided with special accommodations at the 25th Anniversary Gala planned for July or August.  We will also coordinate distribution activity at some of the schools being supported where the sponsors of this initiative can participate.
  • Together we can have a greater impact.
