School Supplies

Lending A Hand for Education

In 2024, we are embarking upon celebrating 25 years of our Annual Stay in School Program. To date, we have provided over 150,000 educational school supply kits to students in several cities in Alameda County since the program began in 1999 (including Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, San Leandro, and others).

This past August, we provided for over 12,000 students with the help and support of our very generous donors. This year, we aim to do all we can to match that amount or provide even more.

When funding allows it, we also support students in the McKinney Vento Program and others as needed.

HOW?

JOIN US WITH THIS MASSIVE COMMUNITY EFFORT?

Becoming an Adopt A School Sponsor allows you to support hundreds of underserved students by providing them with backpacks and the school supplies they need to thrive in academic environments.

If you decide to consider adopting a school, we will provide you with the schools we have on our list needing support and a breakdown of costs. If you are not able to adopt an entire school, we would also be happy to have you as a co-sponsor!

To help us meet significant expected expenses in the first quarter, we ask that funds be released before June of this year.

Another way you can support the community this school year is to “Adopt a Student”. Our “Adopt a Student” option is a one-time $22 donation and is one of our most popular in the community. With your $22 donation, we can provide a student with a new backpack full of all the supplies they need for the new school year. These backpacks are hand-packed by us and transported directly to the schools to be received by students.

In-kind support for middle/high school backpacks (17’’ Black) is also welcomed and greatly appreciated.

To meet deadlines and to get the best pricing break we can, we will need to get funding soon. We ask that all donations and support be submitted before June of this year.

WHEN?

Monetary donations are needed as soon as possible but no later than July 15th, 2024. If you are not able to be a sponsor currently, please consider donating any amount, which will help us to get closer to reaching our goals. We also appreciate your consideration of providing in-kind donations of snacks for the classrooms. We are extremely grateful for all and any support we receive in bettering our community.
