The Lend A Hand Foundation (LAHF) began its mission in 1997 and is now in its 27th year of service. LAHF is widely known for providing underserved students with educational tools and families with their basic needs. The school supply distribution started in 1999 and to date, the organization has provided over 150,000 school supply kits to children and youth in Oakland/Alameda County.
Lend A Hand represents the commitment of its founders, Board of Directors, and volunteers to help improve the lives of children, youth, and their families. LAHF works diligently as a team to make sure they reach out to as many families as possible …Lending A Hand Wherever We Can… is the motto.
Even though charitable giving is challenging and sometimes considerably low, LAHF continues to seek monetary and in-kind donations for families to support them in many areas throughout the year.
LAHF works closely with the Oakland Unified School District, San Leandro, and other surrounding cities in Alameda County to support underserved students and others in need. LAHF provides not only educational tools but food, clothing, and other essentials throughout the year to help families thrive.
LAHF recently developed its support to help as many schools as possible with developing and stocking their community closets. It is also further developing its efforts to give out food to families after school.
When Covid-19 hit, LAHF stepped up quickly as others to do all that it could to help with limited means. LAHF put the word out and began the mission to work tirelessly to support families throughout this huge crisis. Many families who do not have adequate means to take care of their families and who are without housing, food, and clothing have been going through many challenges for years but with the pandemic, it has been harder than ever.
LAHF salutes everyone that has stepped up to help in so many ways and is so proud to say, even though it has been difficult, that it has been a joy to witness how when we come together, we can brighten lives. It is amazing to see all the agencies, corporations, and individuals giving out essentials in huge numbers. These acts of kindness remind us that we can have a better world.
LAHF welcomes partnerships to have a greater impact in the communities it serves. Please follow LAHF as they embark upon having a greater impact by giving in a way that will only uplift and empower families.
